Literacy Intervention

At Alta Vista Elementary we work to ensure that all students become proficient readers and writers.  We strive to meet the needs of every child and ensure that along their journey into becoming literate citizens, our students have opportunities to read and write for enjoyment and purposes that matter to them!

Throughout the school year, our teachers use assessment data to monitor progress and drive instructional goals.  We recognize that literacy acquisition is personal; all students grow and change as readers and writers on their own timeline.  We are prepared to provide intervention for students who may need extra support in the process of learning to read and write.

Should your child be a student who qualifies for reading support, we will contact you directly.
Reading with and to your child will always be one of the best ways to not only bond but help them form a habit of reading and a love of books that will last a lifetime.   If you are curious to see what types of behaviors we expect from readers at certain levels as well as what you can talk to your child about, please check out our parent resources below!
