Let's Thrive in Grade Five!

Mandalyn Thomas is a fifth grade teacher here at Alta Vista Elementary. She has been teaching fifth grade for the past three years and absolutely loves it! There are many reasons why she likes to teach this grade level, but one of them is watching the personalities that develop during students' last year in elementary school. She believes this is a time when students are excited to try new things and become a little more adventurous. She also loves to be apart of all the fun that goes along with being in the fifth grade; such as Science Camp, Promotion, and Survivor Day. 

 

Mandalyn has lived in Redondo Beach for the past five years with her step-kids that are also within the RBUSD school district. She is from New Jersey, (South Jersey to be exact) and loves discovering all that California has to offer, from the mountains to the beaches and everything in between. The idea of snow being an optional experience in the winter, has been her favorite discovery yet!

 

For fun, Mandalyn likes going to concerts, football games, and plays. She is majorly invested in the arts including theatre, creative writing, and film. In the summer you can catch her doing projects with her husband, Stu and the kids. In previous years, she ran a summer theatre class for upper elementary and middle school.
