Principal's Message

🍎 Welcome Back, Alta Vista Families!

2026–2027 School Year

Dear Alta Vista Families,

I hope you and your family have enjoyed a wonderful summer filled with opportunities to relax, recharge, and make lasting memories. As August approaches, our excitement continues to build—we can't wait to welcome our Wildcats back for another incredible year of learning, growth, and community!
My own summer was relatively quiet, filled with daily walks, cheering on World Cup soccer, and spending a few relaxing weekends in Palm Springs with my family. It was also a meaningful time to reflect and recharge after the loss of my mom in June. I hope each of you found moments this summer that brought you joy and renewed energy for the year ahead.

🛠️ Campus Improvements

Our campus has been buzzing with activity all summer! We've been working hard to make Alta Vista an even better place for students to learn and grow. When school begins, you'll notice several exciting improvements:

● 🌧️ New rain gutters throughout campus
● 🧺 New picnic tables outside every classroom
● 🌿 The Wildcat Cove is being transformed into an inviting outdoor learning/reflection space
● 🔊 A new speaker, bell, and campus buzz-in system
● ❄️ A much-needed air conditioning upgrade in the library
● 💻 Brand-new Samsung interactive boards in every classroom

These enhancements will help create engaging learning spaces for our students for years to come. Thank you for making them possible by supporting Measure S!

👋 Welcome to Our Newest Wildcats!

We are excited to welcome several new staff members to the Alta Vista family:

● Ashley Clancy – 1st Grade
● Megan Rabideau – 2nd Grade
● Jordyn Carpenter – 4th Grade
● Sarah Olesiuk – School Counselor
● Emily Schick – School Psychologist

We're thrilled to have these talented educators join our community.

📚 Staff Spotlight

You may also notice a few familiar faces in new locations this year! We are especially excited that Mrs. Nikki Hazlewood will be teaching 3rd grade this year. Several other staff members have also moved classrooms as we've reorganized our campus into grade-level pods that support greater collaboration and consistency for students.
