School Highlights

Alta Vista Elementary students receive a high quality, standards-based education. High student achievement is accomplished through the support of teachers, paraprofessionals, administration, parents, and the implementation of best-researched strategies and practices. Our curricular instruction is built on critical thinking skills, differentiated instructional strategies and encourages risk taking. Working together with our community, the staff provides a well-rounded curriculum and a safe, supportive environment conducive to student learning.   • Outdoor Science Camp is offered to our 5th grade students
  • Each 5th grade classroom create a partnership with a primary classrooms to assist in reading support as "Big Buddies"
  • The whole school participate in our 8 Minute Morning Exercises daily to start our day off right!
  • Alta Vista and BCHD partnership brings our school:
    • Weekly Physical Education Specialist, Coach Sanchez, to support both student and teacher P.E. training and learning / K-5th grades.
    • Our beautiful School Garden with individual K-5th grade level garden boxes

    • K-5th Monthly Gardening & Harvest Lessons
